Volunteers are the backbone of our family, helping us fulfill our mission to provide a safe and affirming place for vulnerable youth in our community. Whether you’d like to commit to creating long-lasting, healthy relationships with youth as a Direct Mentor, or have a free Saturday afternoon to help us out in Tracy's Closet, we want you to be a part of our family.

DIRECT MENTORS
Direct Mentors are the heart and soul of Grace Place, providing the safe, affirming, and healthy relationships that our youth need to thrive. Direct Mentors get to make a real connection with our youth and see the difference we are making in their lives through shared meals, clothing shopping, activities, and group discussion. Direct Mentors:

Eat family-style meals with youth and engage with youth during Youth Nights
Affirm youth of all sexualities and genders, modeling positive, responsible behaviors and attitudes
Commit to serving two Mondays or Thursdays a month for one year

KITCHEN VOLUNTEERS
Kitchen Volunteers ensure youth coming to Grace Place always have a hot, family-style dinner on Youth Nights. Our kitchen teams bring dinner, serve it to our youth and direct mentors, and clean-up afterwards. Kitchen Teams:

Have a desire to support youth experiencing homelessness of all sexualities and genders
Provide, serve, and clean-up a warm dinner for up to 40 people
Approximately two hours per shift, on a pre-scheduled basis, on Mondays and/or Thursdays

ACTIVITY VOLUNTEERS
Activity Volunteers bring the creativity and fun to Grace Place. Each evening after dinner and while youth are shopping in Tracy’s Closet, activity volunteers provide an engaging group activity like creative writing, painting, sex positive education, group games, and so much more.

Have a desire to support youth experiencing homelessness of all sexualities and genders
Lead creative activity, class, or workshop in an area that is of interest or use to youth experiencing homelessness
One hour on Youth Nights, plus set-up and preparation time as determined by you, for a single occasion or on an ongoing basis, according to your availability and desire to offer your time

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Help Grace Place create a safe space for home insecure youth of all genders and sexualities. Serve one of Houston's most marginalized and vulnerable populations through fundraising, cultivating community connections, event planning, and more, while gaining valuable professional development skills.

Board seats are currently open! We're looking for a diverse group of dedicated, hard-working folks interested in marketing/communications, fundraising, networking, programming/events, outreach, finance, advocacy, and volunteer recruitment.

TRACY'S CLOSET CLEAN UP
Every 3rd Saturday | 10 AM - 12 PM

Only available on weekends? No problem! Drop in and help us organize and clean up Tracy's Closet, our space where our youth "shop" for clothes, underwear, toiletries, snacks and more during Youth Nights. No need to sign up or call ahead, just come on through. Bring your friends, family, co-workers, or social club and make it a group project!

CAN'T GIVE YOUR TIME? GIVE IN OTHER WAYS.

Even if you don't have the means to be a volunteer at this moment, you can still help us make Grace Place a safe, welcoming space for all youth. We always appreciate any and all acts of giving.
